Rebel Commander “Eats Heart”, Provides Best Possible Argument against Intervention

Yeah, you read that right. I only used the scare quotes because otherwise it sounds as atrocious as it is. A prominent rebel commander has deemed it fit to have himself videotaped [graphic] while cutting out the heart and liver of an Assad soldier and taking a bite. To illustrate himself doing so, the well-known rebel spaketh thus: “I swear to God, you soldiers of Bashar, you dogs, we will eat from your hearts and livers! O heroes of Bab Amr, you slaughter the Alawites and take out their hearts to eat them!”

Sadly this is not just any rebel. It is Abu Sakkar, former head commander of the rebels’ storied Farouk Brigades, one of the largest forces in the FSA (the above emblem is theirs), currently engaged in the battle of Al-Qusayr.

I have argued before that the FSA’s disorganization and fundamentalist overtones are crippling their chances of critical Western assistance. In this regard, with friends like Abu Sakkar, the FSA needs no enemies.
